About the Author

Toni Hebda, PhD, RN-C, CNE, is a professor with the Chamberlain College of Nursing MSN Program teaching in the nursing informatics track. She has held several academic and clinical positions over the years and worked as a system analyst. Her interest in informatics provided a focus for her dissertation, and subsequently led her to help establish a regional nursing informatics group, obtain a graduate degree in information science, and conduct research related to informatics. She is a reviewer for the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics. She is a member of informatics groups and has presented and published in the field. Kathy Hunter, PhD, FAAN, RN-BC, CNE, is a professor with the Chamberlain College of Nursing MSN Program, teaching in the nursing informatics track. She has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of nursing informatics, healthcare informatics, and nursing education. After conducting clinical practice in critical care and trauma nursing for several years, she began practicing nursing informatics (NI), and working with end users and with information systems design, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation. She has presented nursing-informatics research in national and international meetings as well as publishing numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. About the Author

Tara L. Kuther is Professor of Psychology at Western Connecticut State University where she has taught courses in child, adolescent, and adult development since 1996. She earned her BA in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University and her MA and PhD in Developmental Psychology at Fordham University.  Dr. Kuther’s research on moral development, social cognition, and risks to adolescent development has appeared in journals such as Journal of Adolescence, Journal of Early Adolescence, Addictive Behaviors, and the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry. Dr. Kuther is particularly interested in promoting undergraduate and graduate students’ professional development and has authored over a dozen books intended to help students navigate the challenges of pursing undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology.

Dr Kuther is Fellow of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (American Psychological Association, Division 2). Her interest in promoting excellence in college teaching has influenced her scholarly and professional activities.  Dr. Kuther’s  work examining ethical issues that arise in higher education and methods of sensitizing students to ethical issues has appeared in journals such as Teaching of Psychology, College Teaching, and Gerontology and Geriatrics Education.           Currently the chair of the Society for Research in Child Development Teaching Committee, Dr. Kuther has also been active in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology  as Executive Committee member,  chair of the Task Force on Instructional Research Awards,  and chair of the Long Range Planning Committee.

Gloria Platzner teaches in the English and Humanities programs at California State University, Sacramento, including courses on Classical Mythology and World Mythology.

Stephen L. Harris is Professor Emeritus of Humanities and Religious Studies at California State University, Sacramento, where he served ten years as department chair. A Woodrow Wilson Fellow, he received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Cornell University. A member of the Society of Biblical Literature, his publications include Understanding the Bible (8th edition, 2011); The Old Testament: An Introduction to the Hebrew Bible (with Robert Platzner); Classical Mythology: Images and Insights (with Gloria Platzner); Exploring the Bible; and Fire Mountains of the West: The Cascade and Mono Lake Volcanoes, a survey of volcanic hazards on the U.S. Pacific Coast; and for National Geographic Books, Restless Earth, a study of global earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. He contributed the chapter on “Archaeology and Volcanism” to the Encyclopedia of Volcanoes (Academic Press, 2000).
